Directly off the head rig to your job site. Roughsawn timbers are slightly oversized and have the mill saw pattern on four sides with a minimal amount of wane on the edges.

The same as the roughsawn but finished with a full 80 grit orbital sand. The edges are slightly rounded over and the surface texture is smooth to the touch and ready for stain but allows the saw marks to show through.

Smooth on four sides or S4S timbers are select pulled to maintain a sharp corner throughout the length of the beam. S4S timbers are slightly undersized after planing and have a silky smooth finish without any visible saw marks.

Hewning a beam creates the look of a timber that has been harvested and shaped by hand. The scalloped finish on the hand hewn beams imitates the look of a timber that has been shaped with an axe then uniformed with a draw knife.
